The Office is an iconic show and classic favorite to binge. With all of The Office fans out there, I am sure you have friends or family members who will LOVE this Office themed birthday card. This post is going to walk through the simple steps and supplies needed to make this DIY Office Birthday Card.
This Office birthday card features Dwight’s idea of birthday decorations – half blown up balloons that match their conference room carpet. This DIY birthday card is complete with banner reading “It is your birthday.”
Supplies needed to make this Office birthday card:
- Cardstock paper in white, gray, brown, and tan
- Black marker
- Heart shaped hole punch
- Black letter stickers
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
Here are the simple steps to make this DIY The Office birthday card
1. Fold white paper
The first step to making this Office birthday card is to fold your 8.5 x 11 inch piece of white cardstock paper in half to make an 8.5 x 5.5 inch card.
2. Cut out the balloons
The next step of this card can be done in a couple of different ways depending on your preference and tools on hand. I used a heart shaped paper punch to cut out a heart. Once you cut the resulting heart shape in half, you will get the look of the half blown up balloons that Dwight uses in the show.
If you don’t have this tool on hand, you can also cut out the needed shapes by hand with your scissors.
Whichever technique you decide to use, you will want to end up with two balloons in each color: gray, brown, and tan.
3. Complete the balloons
To finish your balloons, you will also cut out two small triangles in each color. You will use these as the knot on your balloon. Between these and the shapes you cut out in the last step, you should end up with six balloons total.
4. Make the banner
The next step to make this DIY Office birthday card is to create the birthday banner. Cut out a strip of beige paper and use your black letter stickers to write out “It is your birthday.”
Alternatively, if you don’t have any letter stickers you can also write out the phrase in black marker as well.
5. Glue the balloons and banner to the card
Next, glue your balloons and banner to the white paper you folded. Don’t worry too much about getting the balloons in the exact right spot – having them in different heights helps mimic the look that Dwight provides in the conference room.
6. Add balloon strings
The final touch to make your DIY Office birthday card is to use a black marker to create strings coming off of the balloons.
Now your Office birthday card is ready to go!
Now that your card is complete, you can write your message to the recipient inside and put it in an envelope.

- Fact: It is your birthday
- Happy birthday! It’s a big one (That’s what she said).
- Bears. Beets. Birthday wishes.
- Happy birthday? False, it is the anniversary of your birth. You are only born once.
