Supplies needed to make these DIY painted leaf place cards for Thanksgiving

Here are all of the supplies you need to make these painted leaf Thanksgiving name cards.

  • Leaves (Craft in photo used fake leaves, but you can also use real leaves if preferred)
  • Metallic paint
  • Paint brush
  • Metallic permanent marker

Now that you have your supplies, let’s walk through the simple steps to make these painted leaf place cards for Thanksgiving

Each name card will take just a few minutes to make! And you just need to follow two easy steps.

1. Paint your leaves

The first step to make these DIY painted leaf place cards is to paint the leaves with metallic paint. Gather enough leaves so you have one per guest and paint over the entire top surface of the leaf. Set aside to dry.

Apply a second coat if needed, then set aside to dry again.

2. Write out the names

Once your leaves are completely dry, use a contrasting metallic permanent marker to write out the names. For example, in the photo the leaves are painted bronze so we selected a silver sharpie to write out each name.

Set aside the leaves for a few minutes to dry again as the marker can smudge easily at first.

Now you are ready to add these painted leaf place cards in your Thanksgiving table setting!

After a few minutes to dry, your name cards are all set to go! They will add a great personal touch to your Thanksgiving table setting – and when you get compliments on them you get to say, “Thanks, I made them!”
