Steps to make this ribbon Halloween garland…
Let’s get into the step by step tutorial for this easy to make this Halloween ribbon garland!
1. Cut strips of ribbon
The first step to make this Halloween garland at home is to cut strips of ribbon. As you can see in the photo, you can alternate your garland with different ribbon patterns or use the same pattern for the entire garland – it’s totally up to you!
If you alternate two or more different ribbons, I recommend selecting ribbons that are the same size. For example, in the photo the bottom garland was made using two different ribbons both 2.5 inches wide.
Cut strips of ribbon about 7-8 inches long. You can always eyeball the length if you don’t have a ruler handy and then use your first strip as a guide to cut the rest.
To get a garland that is about 4.5 feet, you’ll want about 20-22 strips of ribbon. If you are using two or more patterns, divide that number by the amount of patterns to know how many of each ribbon to cut.
2. Connect the ribbon strips in loops to create the garland
Once you have your ribbon strips cut, you will assemble the Halloween garland.
First, create a single loop of ribbon and then staple it together where the two ends meet. Once you have a loop created, you will then feed the next strip through the center and loop that strip so they are now interlocking loops.
Continue to use this technique over and over until you run out of ribbon strips and you have assembled the garland.
If you are using two or more patterns, remember to alternate the different patterns. Also, if you are using a ribbon that only has a pattern printed on one side, be conscious of which side is facing out as you make your loops.
For thinner ribbons, you can use a single staple to secure each loop. However, if you are using a ribbon that is 2 inches or wider, I recommend using two staples to secure the loop to make sure it stays in place and so the edges don’t visibly pull apart.
3. Hang up your creation!
Now that you have created your Halloween ribbon garland, it’s time to hang up your craft.
Where should you display a ribbon Halloween garland?
There are lots of different places you can put this garland once you’ve created it. This garland is perfect to hang on table edges or walls. I recommend using command hooks for secure hanging, but tape should work as well. You can also hang multiple and layer different garlands together for an enhanced look.
These Halloween garlands would also look great laid out on a countertop, table, or railings.
