Now that you have your supplies, let’s make some place settings!

1. Paint the pinecones

The first step to make these Christmas place cards is to paint the pinecones. I recommend using a small paintbrush so you can be precise.

You can paint them all uniformly or slightly different from each other to give a more eclectic look.

As seen in the photo, I painted some of the pinecones entirely and with others I just painted the edges. Depending on the paint, you may need to let it dry a little and then do a second coat of paint to get a true pop of color.

Set aside the pinecones to dry while you complete the next few steps.

2. Cut some cardstock

The next step is to cut out some cardstock to be the base of the name card. Just like with the paint, you can choose to use the same cardstock for a uniform look or choose a variety of holiday-themed paper.

Using scissors or a paper cutter, cut these to the size you want the name cards to be – I cut them to be about 2 x 3 inches but you can alter as you prefer.

3. Create a border for the name card (optional)

If you want a layered look, you can also cut out a second smaller piece of paper so you can create a border, like this place card:

If you go this route, before cutting a second piece of cardstock think about how big of a border you want and keep in mind how long the person’s name is. Then, using a hot glue gun you can add the second piece of paper.

4. Add the names

Once you’ve created the bases of the name cards, you’ll add the names. Using sticker letters, add the names to your place cards. Alternatively, you can also handwrite the names.

5. Assemble the placecards

The last step to make these Christmas place cards is to assemble them. If you chose to make each one a little differently, play around with the different combinations to match the name cards to the pinecones.

You should be able to stick the name card into the top of the pinecone without needing an adhesive. If needed, add a small amount of hot glue to keep it in place.

Those are the steps to make your own pinecone Christmas place cards!

Now you’re ready for a festive holiday dinner.
