Easter Crafts: DIY Easter Wreath with Paper Flowers

This post is going to walk you through the steps to make one of my favorite Easter crafts: A DIY Spring wreath with paper flowers.

As the weather gets warmer and flowers start to bloom, it’s time to give your decor a Spring makeover. This post is going to walk you through the steps to make one of my favorite Easter crafts: A DIY Spring wreath with paper flowers.

This is a perfect DIY Spring wreath for front door or to decorate inside your home. This “Hello Spring” wreath is also great for Easter, but is also something you can keep up all season long.

This is a great Easter craft for adults or it can also be a fun craft to work on together with your kids.

What supplies do you need to make this DIY Easter wreath?

Here are all of the supplies you need to make for this Spring wreath DIY project.

  • Foam wreath
  • Ribbon
  • Colored paper
  • Scissors
  • Twine
  • Sticker letters
  • Clothespins
  • Hot glue (or other adhesive)

Steps to make this DIY Easter wreath project

Now that you have your supplies, let’s get into the steps to make this Easter craft.

1. Wrap the wreath base with ribbon

The first step to make this Easter wreath DIY is to wrap the ribbon of your choice around the wreath. I chose a ribbon in a bright Spring color with a rustic looking edge. I recommend using a wider ribbon to reduce the amount of times you have to wrap it around the wreath.

Once you have fully covered the wreath, cut the ribbon and use hot glue or another adhesive to tack down the end of the ribbon. Because the ribbon is layered, this is the only spot you should need to put glue in order for the ribbon to stay in place.

2. Cut out your paper flowers

The next step to make this DIY Easter wreath is to cut out your paper flowers. The best way to do this is to cut a square of colored cardstock and fold it in half. Then, use a pencil to outline half of a flower against the paper crease. This way, when you cut out the flower it will be symmetrical.

To give your DIY wreath a more interesting look, cut out flowers in a variety of colors, sizes, and shapes. You can also cut out some leaves from green cardstock paper and small circles for the center of your flowers.

3. Glue your paper flowers to the wreath

Once your paper flowers and leaves are cut out, glue them to the bottom half of your wreath. Glue them one at a time, layering them over each other. Each one should only need a small dab of hot glue or other adhesive to stay on.

4. Use letter stickers to spell out your saying

The next step for this Easter craft is to use letter stickers to spell out the saying for your wreath. Because I wanted this wreath to work for the entire Spring season, I went with “Hello Spring”, but you could also use a bunch of different sayings like “Happy Easter”.

For an eclectic look, separate each letter in the first word on a separate square of paper. I also used two different sticker letter fonts as well.

5. Attach twine to your wreath

Now that your letters are ready, next you will attach twine to the top of the wreath. Turn the wreath over so the back is facing up. Then, glue the twine across the top.

Let the glue dry, then flip the wreath back over and clip the word “Spring” or other chosen word to the twine with clothespins. For an extra touch, I used gold clothespins but you can use any color or plain wooden clothespins for a rustic vibe.

6. Glue “Hello” letters to the top of the wreath

The last step to make this DIY Easter wreath for Spring is to glue your first word to the top of the wreath. I recommend starting with the middle letter of your word so you can center it and then build out the sides afterwards.
